Baby safe and chewable
The educational and playful natural wooden toys are high quality, 100% recyclable, made from non-toxic local reclaimed timber, and finished with child safe bees wax from Coffs Coast to enhance the timber’s natural beauty and longevity. Our products meet high Australian standards and we design and manufacture under sustainable practices.
Health and well-being
Toys of Wood products are pure, natural wooden toys with an emphasis on the health and well-being of your child, in line with the Steiner and Waldorf philosophy. Wooden toys and resources not only nurture imaginative play and also connect us to nature, but can be kept and passed down to the next generation. What a wonderful way to inspire each child’s individuality!

Meet Vivien Rink, the creative force behind Toys of Wood.
My love for wood started in my grandfather’s workshop. Studying in Germany at the design University of Art and Design in Halle, I earned my degree as a Master of Product Design, and wood was often my first choice of material for projects.
From 2004 to 2006 I freelanced for different designers in Frankfurt and Jena in Germany; soon after I decided to travel to and around Australia. Visiting the mid-north coast and especially Coffs Harbour, I fell in love with the area, where I also met my partner for life. While travelling together around this amazing big country we saw some incredible scenery and wildlife, where I draw much of my inspiration from.
Our travels brought us to Sydney, where I started Toys of Wood out of a niche in 2009. I couldn’t find wooden toys for our newborn baby, so I decided to work with other designers in the “Splinterworkshop”. I designed as well as manufactured wooden baby toys and still do.
Seeing our children growing up, they show me many ways of play as well as the need for toys to foster their imagination in each developing stage.
